What do you mean by domains?
Domains refer to the root part of an email sender’s address and typically represent a company or organization. By setting preferences at the domain level, we effectively manage all emails from that domain. For example, setting a Time to Live (TTL) for domain "@amazon" will apply to all emails sent from various Amazon emails including "amazonpayments-noreply@amazon.com", "auto-confirm@amazon.com", "marketplace-messages@amazon.com", and "shipment-tracking@amazon.com".
What if I want to set different preferences for each email within a domain?
In the current version of InboxInsurgence, we focus on domain-level preferences to simplify the user experience and manage emails more broadly. This approach reduces complexity for users who may not want to set preferences for each individual email address. For instance, rather than managing multiple email addresses from a newsletter provider individually, all are handled under one domain preference.
How is this solution going to stop Email Marketing?
By implementing strict Time to Live (TTL) policies based on community-driven data and AI analysis, we significantly reduce the visibility and impact of intrusive marketing emails. This disrupts traditional email marketing metrics like click-through rates, forcing marketers to rethink their strategies and potentially reduce the volume of emails sent.
How will you handle SPAMs and SCAMs?
Our system utilizes AI-driven algorithms and real-time community feedback to quickly identify and react to spam and scams. Aggressive Time to Live (TTL) settings are applied, such as marking suspicious emails from unknown senders to expire in 0 days, ensuring they are removed from your inbox immediately. This proactive approach minimizes your exposure to potential threats.
Why do you need consent from me?
Google’s security policies require user consent for third-party applications accessing Gmail data. This is to ensure you are aware and agree to third-party apps managing your email data.
How will you use my data?
We use the collected data to configure domain-level preferences that benefit all users in our community. For example, if many users mark emails from a particular marketer as spam, we might adjust our filters to automatically categorize future emails from this sender for all users. You can refer to the Privacy Policy for more details.
How does the No Read List work?
Adding domains to the No Read List ensures that emails from those domains are completely ignored by our system, enhancing your privacy. For instance, if you add your bank’s domain to the list, emails from this domain will remain untouched and unanalyzed to protect sensitive information.
Why is the ALL MESSAGES count on the home page higher than the Gmail Inbox count?
If you notice high message counts, ensure the conversation view (Settings -> Email Threading -> Conversation View) is turned off. Then, go inside the All Mail folder and check the count in the top right corner of your email client. For instance, if you have threaded conversations enabled, it might show fewer messages because related emails are grouped together.
Why does it take so long to refresh?
Due to Gmail API limitations, we can only update fewer than 500 messages per minute. This includes actions like retrieving email details and updating their status in your inbox. For example, gathering data for emails and moving unwanted messages to trash takes the bulk of this time. We use batch operations wherever possible to speed up processes like updating labels.
Why do I still see messages older than 30 or 5 days in T30/T5 folders?
If emails older than their assigned Time to Live (TTL) are still visible, they might not have been categorized initially. Running an Old Emails Cleanup can help re-categorize and appropriately handle these lingering messages.
What is the filter for Auto and User preferences?
Auto preferences are predefined settings based on community feedback and AI analysis, aimed at optimizing your email interaction. User preferences are custom settings you can create to better fit your personal email management needs. For instance, you might set a domain from your favorite sports team in the ALLOW list.
Why is there no option for permanently deleting emails?
We provide a grace period for trashed emails, allowing you to recover any emails accidentally moved to trash within 30 days. This is to prevent permanent loss of important communications. For example, if you mistakenly trash a work-related email, you can retrieve it from the trash before it's permanently deleted.
